‘Socktober’ – Auburn Fifth-Grader Organizes Sock Drive For Homeless
We had a chance to talk with a great young man today on the Moose Morning Show. Eleven-year old Patrick Myers is a fifth-grader at Park Avenue Elementary School in Auburn. He recently organized a community event called 'Sock-tober.' Patrick wanted to do his part to help the homeless in central Maine, so he put together a sock drive at his school.
Over the past few weeks students and teachers filled six collection boxes at the school lobby with socks. They were then donated to to the Hope Haven Gospel Mission of Lewiston.

Patrick got the idea for 'Socktober' from an online video series, 'Kid President,' where 10-year-old Robby Novak urges people to do give back to their communities.
