Once in awhile I get a call from a listener requesting a song where they don't know who sings it, or even the song title. I am "that guy" today. Help me if you can.

As a DJ, I pride myself on knowing most well-known songs in both the pop and rock genres. This song I heard yesterday used as bumper music coming back from a commercial break to a game is now stuck in my head.

You got it, I don't know who sings it, nor do I know the title. Of course it is driving me crazy as I feel I should know the song.

I'll give you what I know, first I believe it's a 70s track. If I were to guess, I'd say it's from Eric Clapton. The lyrics are mumbled and that is why I'm having trouble Googling it. From what I remember, it's a mostly instrumental track with the recurring lyric saying something like, "living in a rut" or possibly, "put it in a cup." Lastly, in the beginning of the song it sort of sounds like what you might hear introducing a news update; a 'news sounder' if you will

I hope you can help as I will not rest peacefully until this is solved!

Bah, ba ba ba, bah!

******UPDATE, 10:25 PM***

I have an answer!

Thanks to my friend Kim Rundstrom for solving it. This is the song. It's not not Eric Clapton and it's not called, "Living in a Rut."
