Maine State Trooper, Lieutenant Shaun Currie, accidentally discharged his firearm during a staff meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the state police’s former headquarters at 36 Hospital Street in Augusta. Currie was at a computer training class, with two other troopers, when he shifted in his seat and his firearm discharged while still in the holster.

No on was injured in the incident, which is under investigation. A reenactment team is being assembled to determine whether it was a mechanical defect or an operator error.
