Thanks To A $100 Million Donation, You Can Now See Paintings Done By Van Gogh In Waterville
Where can you find works of art by Vincent Van Gogh and Rembrandt in Central Maine? The Colby College Museum of Art!
According to the Sun Journal, former Waterville residents Peter and Laura Lunder have made a donation of approximately 1,500 works of art valued at more than $100 million.
The works, which include paintings and photos, date from the 1500s to 2014. Artists included in the donation include: Cassatt, Vincent van Gogh, James McNeill Whistler, Jasper Johns, Nina Katchadourian, Jacob Lawrence, Maya Lin, Joan Mitchell, Claes Oldenburg, Betye Saar, Rembrandt, Ai Weiwei and Fred Wilson.
