Things To Do In Maine On Super Bowl Sunday Now That The Patriots Have Lost
The New England Patriots' season came to a tough end yesterday (Jan. 24) in the AFC Championship Game against Denver. I bet there are more than a few Patriots fans out there like me who are having thoughts of skipping the Super Bowl because they have no desire to watch the Broncos try to win what should have been the Patriots' championship (in the interest of full disclosure, I have a long-standing, deep-seeded hatred of the Denver Broncos, which dates back to the days of John Elway-so I did not take yesterday's loss well at all).
So, if you're undecided about watching the Super Bowl, I've gone ahead and put together a quick list of some things you could do on Feb. 7 instead of watching the Super Bowl.
This is a partial list, please share any other ideas in the comments below.

Go to the theater in Waterville
The Waterville Opera House is presenting "The Game's Afoot" on Feb. 7. The show is at 2PM, so that won't get you away from the whole game, but it's perfect for skipping all of the pregame praise of St. Peyton Manning...

Watch the finals of the Toboggan Nationals at the Camden Winterfest
While Camden Winterfest goes on from Jan. 30-Feb. 7, the event culminates with the finals of the US National Toboggan Championships at the Camden Snow Bowl from 9AM-3:30PM on Feb. 7. Watch people go downhill fast, just like the Pats' season did in Denver (sorry...still bitter)

Enjoy Classical Music in Augusta
Nothing will sooth a depressed Patriots fan on Super Bowl Sunday like classical piano music George Lopez, Bowdoin's Robert Beckwith Artist in Residence, will be playing at Jewett Hall at UMaine Augusta at 2PM (there is a preconcert talk at 1).Lopez has been a dedicated and dynamic performer, educator, and lecturer for over 25 years. Mr. Lopez is comfortable in many styles of music.
Go here for more info or call 859-9840.

Go To An Outdoor Film Festival
The Banff Mountain Film Festival is coming to the State Theater in Portland, and it is the largest and the most prestigious mountain festival in the world. The World Tour showcases award-winning films and audience favorites from approximately 300 films entered from over 35 countries with stops planned at 790 locations in all seven continents.
With a 7PM start, this is prefect for getting away from football!

Actually spend time with your family
Or, instead of going out, or staring at the TV watching two unworthy teams slug it out for what should be the Pats' Super Bowl trophy, you could simply turn the TV off and have a family game night! But make sure you turn on 92 Moose for your evening soundtrack! You can even stream it online here.
