Think US Politics Are Bad? Did You See Who Ran For Office In The UK?

For all of you out there who think the American political system is a bit of a mess with all the stories coming out of Washington lately, you can take comfort in knowing that at least all of our politicians are actual people.

That isn't the case in Great Britain. Consider the photo that accompanies this story, the woman in red is British Prime Minister Theresa May and while it looks like she is walking past a security camera on her way to hear the election results, she is walking side-by-side with an ACTUAL CANDIDATE, Lord Buckethead.,

We'll let that sink in for a minute....

Yes, apparently those quirky fun-loving Brits have a tradition of putting forth joke candidates, and instead of just writing funny names on a ballot, these people actually show up and get votes.

The man in white under the steely Darth Vader-ish stare of Lord Buckethead is Howling ‘‘Laud’’ Hope of the Monster Raving Loony Party, who actually got 119 votes, which pales to Lord Buckethead, who tallied 249. What's even creepier is that a guy in an actual Elmo suit managed to get 3 votes.
