According to the National Weather Service, Central Maine could be in for some thunderstorms and hail this afternoon (June 25). In fact, as of 2:45 p.m., rumblings of thunder were being heard in downtown Augusta.

Here is the special weather statement from the National Weather Service:

An area of showers and a few embedded thunderstorms was located along a line extending from Farmington to Casco this afternoon. These showers and storms are moving south southeast at 30 mph. Some of the stronger activity may produce small hail up to pea size. Locations impacted include... Lewiston, Augusta, Waterville, Farmington, Mechanic Falls, Oakland, Turner, Gray, Jay, Litchfield, Belgrade, Livermore Falls, Manchester, Canton, Winthrop, Wilton, Raymond, Yarmouth, Lisbon and Greene. This includes Interstate 95 between mile markers 62 and 92.
