Another Maine winter is here and last night, a moderate snowstorm ,smaller than some but big enough to either snow blow or shovel.

I feel guilty a little at the moment as I write this. I have an incredible neighbor who in his 80s and is out there snow-blowing right now his walkway and the edge of his driveway. He has a plow guy for the big stuff but does the details with a snow blower and or a shovel. I've asked in the past and still do on a regular basis if he wants help and always says "no" with a smile. I've tried to take over, and wants me to let him do it.

When he's not looking I shovel where he parks his car just because that's how I was raised and in the summer mow his part of the driveway divider if I get to it first. His family helps him out so he's not without assistance but still I feel guilty. When he had problems with his TV I took over and brushed off his satellite dish as it required climbing a ladder to the low section of his roof but I wish I could do more.

He is an amazing man with an amazing work ethic. I hope when I'm his age I can turn away "kids" offering help. He's a man who served our country I believe in Korea, and is devoted to his wife and wants to still do work like he's 40.
