Ever wondered how smart we are as a state?

We as a nation pride ourselves on being the best at everything, but, not all states shine as equally bright when it comes to being the smartest.

Saturday Night Science created an index that reveals which states have the highest percentages of adults lacking a high school diploma and those without a college degree.

So, where does Maine fit into the picture?

Surprisingly, Maine does not top the list of “dumbest states” in America. Thank goodness.

We are number 41 on the list of 50 dumbest states, and we fall into a much better category when you are comparing us to other states. While Maine definitely has its challenges, our level of education is going very well.

Let's take a look at who is at the top of this unfortunate list.

Top 10 dumbest states in the nation, according to Roadsnacks are, Nevada, Mississippi, Arkansas, New Mexico, Alabama, Louisana, West Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, and Tennessee.

Maine shows its commitment to education through efforts to improve literacy rates and make higher education more accessible.

I can't help but feel very relieved that Maine isn't one of the ten dumbest states!

It is certainly a comfort to know that despite the jokes about being so far up north, Maine stands out for its commitment to smarts and our awesome access to education.

The state has been actively working on initiatives that help folks to pursue higher education and develop their skills!
