Augusta Friendly’s Employees Show up, Find Store Closed For Good
We had seen several posts on social media this morning indicating that the Friendly's Restaurant on Western Avenue was permanently closed. Upon further investigating we found out that not only is that true, but that employees of the restaurant said they were not previously made aware of the closing. According to the employees, they showed up to work this morning and saw this sign hanging on the door.
"We apologize for disappointing you on this visit, but this location is now closed for business. We regret that we do not have another Friendly's Restaurant near you, but we hope that you will visit one of our other locations when travelling. We appreciate your patronage over the years and for allowing us to try and make the world Friendly, one scoop at a time. For media inquiries please contact Friendlysmedia@ficrg.com"
The Augusta store is one of 23 closed by the chain on Monday. A story in the Bangor Daily News quoted a company spokesperson as saying that employees did have advance of the closure.
According to Friendly's corporate office, if you have gift cards that you were unable to use, you can mail the card back to Friendly's corporate office to get a check back for the value of the card. Mail the card (send with a tracking number from the post office so you can make sure the card was delivered) to: Friendly's, 1855 Boston Road, Suite 200, Wilbraham, MA, 01095. You can reach the corporate office at (844) 869-5650.
Friendly's has closed
It's too bad to see another eatery going out of business. Friendly's was always a great family place to go out to eat. It will surely be missed.
