It was a tragic ending to a situation that began as a person in distress in the tourist town of Bar Harbor, Maine on Wednesday.

According to Chat GPT, Bar Harbor is a charming coastal town located on Mount Desert Island in Hancock County, Maine. Known for its stunning natural beauty, it serves as a gateway to Acadia National Park, one of the most visited national parks in the United States.

According to WGME 13, on Wednesday, a 20-year-old New Hampshire man was reportedly swimming in Clark Cove when people who nearby claim the man began to become distressed in the water.

Concerned citizens that were nearby called 911 for help which prompted a response from local authorities and the Maine State Police. Sadly, however, the swimmer did not make it.

WGME is reporting that the Maine State Police Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Team was eventually able to locate the body and bring him back to the surface. WGME said the body was that of Gregory Taylor, 20 of New Hampshire.

Following the recovery of the man's body, he was transported from the scene and taken to a funeral home in the area, according to reports.

At this time, there was no information immediately available as to what led to the swimmer going into distress and eventually succumbing to the coastal waters. This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information becomes available.
