Art is essential to the growth and evolution of humans. It gives a sense of purpose in a world full of chaos and you can draw inspiration from just about anything!

They're is one young Maine artist that has recently been blasted by the past.

Adrien Poly, a fourth-grader who attends Winthrop Grade School, is an extremely gifted artist, according to her art teacher, Lisa Gilman who has witnessed many talented kids in her many years of teaching and Adrien is different.

According Centralmaine.com, Adrien has discovered something amazing. He and his teacher were both astonished by this overwhelming experience that shocked them both.

Adrien had been using his art desk for 2 years. Hold onto your desks folks because recently, Adrien discovered a carving in the drawer of the desk. The carving was his great-grandfather's name!

Polky's great-grandfather, Wesley Healey was also an artist who began, untrained, at a very young age. Creating so many inspiring pieces which led to woodworking. According to the article, he built models of planes and was self-taught in acrylic and oil paintings.

Adrien says,

“It was better than being at Disneyland,”

According to the article, Morgan Polky, Adrien's Mom says,

“I mean, what are the odds that my son, while doing art in this random room at the school (the old high school), comes across his great-grandfather, who was a talented artist. It made me cry because it felt to me like possibly a sign from my grandfather that he’s still present and watching over my son, and like an encouragement for Adrien to keep on creating.”

Morgan says, many of Wesley's art pieces, creations, and paintings are hung in cases and frames in the Healey's homes, according to the article.

Unfortunately, as the article on Central Maine states, Adrien was never able to meet his great-grandfather because he died of lung cancers in 2005 but I believe this is a spiritual connection that brought them so much closer and hopefully gives Adrien the inspiration to never stop creating.
