Check Out Lizzy’s Horrific Hair Journey
Once upon a time, I wanted to be blonde. It wasn't long ago, maybe 2 years now. My hair was pretty plain brown. I needed a change.
So I decided to go to a salon and get my hair colored. I deeply yearned for the lady boss, Khaleesi's hair from Game Of Thrones which is really, icy, whitish-blonde, with glittery spots of platinum just shining so bright you'd need sunglasses just to look at me. That was my end-game but I didn't realize what I was going to go through to get there.
I went to several different salons in a very short period of time. I do admit my hair has always been pretty plain but it also does not listen to my fingers. My hair was like me at 5 years old, wasn't going to listen to anything and just run around in every different direction, until the neighbors called my mom and said, "Pam, little Elizabeth is running around outside again!" At the first salon, my hair became orange and I am not the type of person to place blame on anyone, so we'll blame it on my hair alone. The stylist was lovely and the plain truth is that my hair came out badly. My hair was an ass. I asked for platinum hair and I got the "Kelly Clarkson hair "via 2002 when she won American Idol and sang the incredible song "A Moment Like This" and this was certainly a moment I will never forget.
I had it all, the highlighted stripes and orange glow. See unforgettable proof below.
It was hard but everything happens for a reason so I owned it. But I also made an appointment at another salon immediately. I got a few treatments to "lift" the color and make it lighter but unfortunately, it was still not at my Khaleesi moment.
I continued on my journey, went to another salon, and at that point, I had about 3 bleaching treatments, but I wasn't done. I wasn't going to turn back now, I was Adele and continued to roll too deep.
I love the singer, Vitamin C but I didn't want to commit to her hair color because it's not my thing!
So I bleached it again.
And then bleach it again, and again, and again.
I finally arrived at a sunny yellow color. I still had the orange but it wasn't as ripe.
The more I bleached the lighter it got. However, the more I bleached the more damaged it became as well. I had no idea how badly this was going to affect my hair.
After several bleaching treatments, in a short period of time, I had to stop for a while. So I took a pause and slowly began to notice how damaged my hair was.
It started breaking and falling off at the ends. The hair above my neck was chopped in have. So I wore my hair in a top bun for a full year.
Then, my beautiful and better-late-than-never wife told me to go to a girl named Sara Hinson at the Beauty Bar in Auburn. She had known her from childhood. So I went, and instantly we clicked. It's important to bond with the person your entrusting with your hair. Hairstylists are like bartenders without getting drunk, you get beautified. This is especially true with Sara.
Sara checks all of the boxes. She is kind, gentle and most importantly, she knows what she's doing. She's an extremely educated colorist and she was able to get me from yellow, orange to a color I was confident in below.
I was extremely thrilled with the result, however, my hair became so dead that I needed to cut it all off. So that's what I did, yesterday. When in doubt, CUT IT OUT!
Thank you to Sara for always making me feel attractive. Sara also did my wedding hair and it was the most amazing style I have ever seen.
Please check out her Instagram and try to book an appointment with her because she's filling up fast!
Her coloring techniques and cuts are second to none ya'll!
