Have You Been To Maine’s Drive-Through Convenience Store?
There's no doubt that, over the last few months, we've all started living the drive-through lifestyle. Meals, coffee, medication, whatever! Not just because it is quicker than going into a business. It's also hassle free. No masks, no social distancing, no dragging the kids around (if you're a parent), no dousing yourself with hand sanitizer when you get back to the car.
But, not EVERYTHING is available at a drive-through. In the conversations I have had with listeners over the last few weeks, one thing became clear: people wanted an easier way to shop for convenience items without have to go into the store.
Yes, most stores are offering some kind of curbside service, but that isn't always convenient for smaller purchases. While curbside works well for big grocery orders, that new TV, or hundreds of pounds of gardening supplies, the process does not work well for small stuff or impulse buys. It would be a pain, for customers and employees, to set up a curbside order for a pack of gum or lottery tickets.
What's the solution? the drive-through convenience store!
As far as we know, there is only one drive-through convenience store in the state. According to Only In Your State, the Auto-Drip Drive-Thru is located at 167 State Road in Kittery.
In addition to grocery and convenience items, they sell an amazing array of scratch-made foods like soups, salads, sandwiches, and bakery items.
The only downside is their limited hours - for a convenience store, at least. They're open from 5 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. And, 7 AM to Noon on Saturday. Closed on Sunday.
So, who wants to open a drive-through convenience store in Central Maine?
