Here’s How You Can Help Maine’s Credit Unions End Hunger
According to the Campaign for Ending Hunger, 43% of students need a meal every day, Maine is 12th in the Nation for food insecurity, and 16% of Maine seniors are
at risk of going hungry.
These statistics are so sad but something is being done about it.
Credit Unions all over the state of Maine are attempting to make a difference, to help relieve this serious issue of food insecurity. So what are they doing about it? I will tell you. They are participating in Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger.
Since 1990 this remarkable campaign has given over $11.3 million to end hunger. All of the funds that are raised are supporting organizations here in Maine to help those who are hungry, according to the article.
The contributions are coming from those of us who recognize the seriousness of this issues. Ending hunger has been a fight that many of us have been trying to eliminate for a long time. It especially is vital to get this under control because this is our state, these are our people and as Mainer's we take care of our own.
That is exactly what this campaign is doing.
Aligned with the shared principle of coming together to give back to their communities, credit unions across the state collectively participate in the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. This signature social responsibility campaign is the largest, non-hunger organization-based philanthropic fundraising effort to end hunger in our state.
This campaign ends on June 30th and they are hoping to raise $100,000 in 30 days!
