Instagram Reels is ready for the United States. There has been a lot of talk of the government banning TikTok, so Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, has released Reels.

Reels has already in the works and was released in other parts of the world. That is what happens when you have a successful app like TikTok, and the other guys will either copy the basics of it or just buy it. In this case, they had made their version of TikTok.

Because of the talk of banning TikTok in the United States, Microsoft has been trying to buy a big chunk of it the company or buy it outright. But big deals like that don’t just happen in the blink of any eye. The bottom is about the date that is collected on users and trends and how artificial intelligence uses that information. According to this story from The Washington Post, Microsoft has not been plugged into that part of internet use. But then again, the big guys who have been using that data and selling that data have been being investigated abusing that power. Microsoft was not part of that inquiry.

I have not had much of a chance to play around with Reels yet. I did have to go to my app store and update my Instagram for it to show up. Not sure if that will be the case for you.

While it is very similar to TikTok, here is a tutorial from Later.com. As tutorials go, it seems like a good one.
