This 2022, a Maine's New Year's baby was born.

She is a beautiful baby girl called Grace-Glow Star Whitney, born precisely at 12:36 a.m. on January 1, 2022, at St Mary's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

"Grace-Glow is a gift to the world and a dream come true, and she entered the world right on New Year’s Day,”

Mother, Destinie Brown

There is something magical about being born as a new year is beginning. Documenting when the new year's babies were born started in Ancient Greek times, according to Mental Floss.

A baby born on New Year's Day represents the beginning of a new day, a fresh start for the New Year and this dates back to ancient Greece. Pretty cool if you think about it.

Dionysus, the god of fertility and wine's rebirth was celebrated each year. Townspeople would place a baby in a basket and parade it through town. It was a revival and a way to rejuvenate from the past.

We continue to post and document our states' new years baby because it also gives us restoration into the new year. Our journeys are hard enough so starting over, fresh, and awakened with a blank slate is often needed.

The symbolization of the New Year's baby brings hope, and little Grace is certainly a hopeful little angel. In her photo, she is smiling, and if that doesn't automatically make you feel good, I don't know what will.

Let baby Grace teach us a lesson of rebirth to all Mainers. We can be like snakes and shed our old, procrastinating, pandemic, fear-infused skin and become new again!

Celebrate this year knowing that you can always start over and experience metamorphism of your own. Rebirth yourself, renew yourself, and don't forget to renew your gym membership, said me.

Now enjoy the gallery of a bunch of cute little babies below!

Little Grace-Glow was the first baby born on New Years day and this tradition of rebirth goes way back to ancient times.
