Maine High School Builds Outstanding & Spacious Wing for Music & Art Students
I graduated from Lewiston High School in 2004 and the memories I cherish will last a lifetime. I was fortunate enough to be chosen to sing solo at graduation and have always been proud of my fellow students and teachers for the comradery we developed during my years of study there. But the best part of high school for me was the music and the arts!
According to Sun Journal, it took Lewiston high school 18 months of construction to build a wing to house music and art studies. They are finally done and all involved are thrilled. It will be such a nice experience for students to now walk into this important new wing. This is vital to students and staff alike, and it is nice to see that the arts are respected more than ever!
Mr. Darren Avery was the most incredible music teacher when I attended LHS. I remember when we would go to his classroom in the basement excitedly discussing which songs we would be singing. We jazzed up the music room as much as we could by painting on the walls, but the size of the space did not reflect the talent coming out of it.
It is important that students are able to experience a more modern feel within the arts and music programs at LHS. We all need space to create.
Music and art have become more prominent in schools and it has a lot to do with social media. With Tiktok being such a craze, this is how younger people are making their success and also a lot of money and it all has to do with music and art.
Let's continue to broaden our arts and music for all generations to feel comfortable creating. You never know, Lewiston itself could produce the next Bach or Beyoncé.
