Maine’s Own Delicious Drag Divas Create Safe Space For All
Let's talk about drag baby. Everyone that's breathing knows who RuPaul is, he's an American drag queen who is infamous for boosting the popularity and love for all that is drag.
Maine has such a variety of artistic and creative performers and one of my favorite shows to attend are that of glitter and drag!
I recently was lucky enough to speak to the, "Delicious Drag Divas" of Bangor. They are something special because they choose to perform in the most unlikely of places. For example, they go to spots like Summerset Abbey, in the tiny little town of Madison, Maine. It seats just 50 people with dinner and a show and they sell out 3-4 times a year, every night they perform.
They put on drag shows to help all aspects of the LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual) community and in doing so, they create a safe space for all people to be authentic and themselves.
We do our best to bring talent in from all over the country to allow people to see as many forms of drag as possible. It all started with me creating a place for my Husband to perform cause there wasn't one in Bangor has grown to create a space for soooo many drag artists.

They now have anywhere from 200 to 400 people come to the shows.
I do my best to keep ticket prices as low as I can so everyone can afford to come out and have fun.

Lloyd Tracy created Delicious Drag Divas and is a premier Host with the stage name, "Lady D."
Lloyd created this drag company to make sure anyone who has the talent, ability, and love for drag to feel secure and welcome, always.
They make sure to hold free shows to benefit gay youth. It's so important for all people, especially gay youth and performers to feel accepted and not threatened by fear of judgement or stigma.
Delicious Drag Divas have done a lot for their community and have been inducted into the USM Archives and this is the second year in a row where they are the headlining act at the Schoodic Arts festival, being the highest attended event they have all summer!
Whether you are a performer who needs a safe space to be yourself or if you're an audience member, like myself, who loves the feeling of losing your inhibitions and witnessing magic happen, check out The Delicious Diva Drag Queens on Facebook and go to one of their shows!
They are having a show called, Cherry Pop Amateur's Drag Night, this Saturday, May 14th at Seasons in Bangor. Tickets are $10 and you'll find more information, here.
