(UPDATE) Nasty Weather Could Disrupt Your New Years Eve Plans
UPDATE 7:30 AM on December 29th
The National Weather Service has the Augusta area under a Winter Storm Watch from 7 PM on Monday (December 30) to 7 PM on Tuesday (December 31)
According to News Center Maine, this two part storm will begin early Monday morning in Maine's south and west. Central Maine will probably only see a dusting from this first wave, but there is a slim chance you could encounter some slick spots during your tide into work on Monday morning.
The storm's second wave will roll in late Monday and be with us until late Tuesday. This will be way more widespread. It'll bring snow to Central Maine and a mix of precipitation to the Mid-coast. Depending on where you are, you could get anywhere from 1" to 10" over the course of the storm, with the highest snowfall totals in the west and the most sleet and freezing rain on the coast.
On the plus side, it looks like it will be mostly cleared out before you go out for New Years Eve.

According to the National Weather Service, there's a high probability we'll have snow throughout the day on New Years Eve.
As of midnight on Saturday, December 28th, forecasts indicate the snow will roll into Central Maine on Monday evening and stay with us until sometime late Tuesday.
News Center Maine's Keith Carson is comparing this storm to the strange two part storm we had back in November. Currently, he is estimating up to 6" for the storm. He also says we could see mixed precipitation.
