RT 3 Closed, Power Shut Off in Augusta Following Morning Crash
We've received word that part of North Belfast Avenue (Route 3) has been shut down from the Weeks Mills Road up to Bolton Hill following an apparent early-morning car accident. Additionally, crews from Central Maine Power have shut off power to a large portion of Augusta stretching all the way across to Eastern Avenue (Route 17).
According to a post from the Augusta Police Department, APD and AFD currently have North Belfast Avenue completely shut down from the Weeks Mills Road to Bolton Hill Road, until further notice, due to a motor vehicle accident. Please seek an alternate route and we will update when the road is open again. CMP has shut off power to the area as well, we will update when it is restored.
We also received an e-mail through our station's 'report it' page from a listener saying they believe the accident involved the potential rollover of a tanker truck though we cannot verify that information at this time.
We will continue to keep this story updated as details become available to us.
