If you grew up in Northern New England, there were probably a few things on your bucket list each summer.  Watching the 4th of July fireworks with your family, at least one trip to Old Orchard Beach, and a trip to Story Land amusement park in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Since the early 1950s, the park has been welcoming the young, and the young at heart, to a land of fun and imagination.  And, over the decades, the parks has expanded and evolved.  It seems like every season, they add something new.  New shows, different food offerings, new rides...

It appears the park has announced the opening date for 2023.

According to the Story Land website, the park will open for the season on Saturday, May 27th.  That's the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.  That weekend, they'll be open Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day Monday.

Then, the park will be open on  some Fridays, every Saturdays, and every Sunday through mid-June.  On June 16th, the park will be open seven days a week through Labor Day.

However, there is a way you can get into the park even earlier.  Once again proving that it pays to get a season pass, passholders will be able to preview the park on Saturday, May 20th.

Of course there is a chance these dates could change.  For a complete calendar of 2023 dates, and for more about the park and attractions, check out the park website.

In addition to all the family fun the park offers, over the last few years, they have done a series of adult nights.  They call them "nostalgia nights", though.  Basically, it is a chance for the adults to relive their childhoods.  But, this time, they get to do it with a beer in hand and a great local band providing the soundtrack.  They have not announced any of these adult nights, yet.  But, we have our fingers crossed.

9 Closed Maine Amusement & Water Parks

We have put together a list of now closed amusement parks and water parks. Some of these were in operation in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s... Some haven't been around for over a century. ***Keep in mind that some of the information regarding when these places were open and what they offered comes from listener comments and stories passed down by people who visited (or worked at) these parks.
