When I was a young doe, I was a huge concert goer. I loved going to local shows and get lost in the music. I was also a singer and knew that I wanted to work around music so I signed up for this publicity company that had a street team of kids like me that would promote new artists.

I was a part of this street team for a record label in New England that promoted musicians/bands like Avril Lavigne, Blink 182 and Nickelback.

They would send us tons of merchandize to market these new singers like bumper stickers, t-shirts, flyers etc. I would pass out the merch at local record stores/blockbusters and various businesses to get the word out there.

I guess I was doing well because that same publicity company asked me to become a "Jim Beam Girl" for a Nickelback show in Boston. I of course said yes and at that time I didn't even know what that meant. I wore a Jim Beam shirt, served beer and walked around backstage.

I was told when I arrived not to look at the bands or celebrities and just make believe they were "regular people." Ha.

The moment I saw lead singer, Chad Kroeger my jaw dropped and I stared intently and  deeply into his big beautiful eyes. The order I was given to "be cool" didn't happen, at all.

I was able to take a photo with them and my smile couldn't have gotten any bigger. As I posed, I felt something extra. It was light pat on my rear-end. Yes, Chad touched my butt. It felt comforting and kind of spiritual. It was a consensual experience that I will always remember my literal "brush with celebrity." He was definitely picking up what I was putting down.

Now at parties I pull out the picture in my wallet and say, "Look at this photograph."

I can't wait until they come back to Bangor so I can be reunited with my boo-thang again.
