Train Carrying Hazardous Materials Derails In Maine

According to a report on the Fox News website, a train that is reportedly hauling hazardous materials has derailed in rural Maine.

The derailment reportedly happened earlier today (April 15th) near the town of Rockwood, Maine. Officials are asking the residents of the town, which is located on the shores of Moosehead Lake, to stay clear of the site of the incident.

It appears the incident happened sometime before 10 AM on Saturday, April 15th.

A post on the Rockwood Fire & Rescue Facebook page said:

Train derailment with fire north of rockwood, hazzard materials please stay clear!

At this point, it is not clear exactly what hazardous materials the train was carrying. It is also not clear if anyone was injured in the incident.

The train is reportedly owned and operated by the Canadian Pacific Railroad. According to the company's website, the transport everything from automotive products, to fertilizer, to coal, to food products, and more.

It appears that they can also facilitate intermodal transportation. So, if your product is produced at an inland factory, they can bring it to the nearest seaport for you.
