Since this month (Friday) marks the 100th birthday of Acadia National Park, I decided I needed to spend at least part of the weekend taking my daughters on their first Mount Desert Island adventure!

Actually, it's the first time I've had a chance to hit Bar Harbor and Acadia in over a decade. We spent most of our trip in Bar Harbor (looking for parking, lunch at an outdoor cafe, looking for parking, checking out the boats, playing in Agamont Park, looking for parking, eating ice cream), but did spend some time exploring Acadia National Park...  Sand Beach, Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole.

We also spent some time cruising around the island looking for Martha Stewart and John Travolta.  No luck, though.  But, the big houses with waterfront views and the Porsche's, BMW's, Bentley's, and Jaguar's driving around were a giveaway that we were in the right part of the island.
