ALL Maine Kiddos Eligible for Free School Meals
If you have kids under 18 in school, they are eligible for the school meal programs, you just need to fill out a form and you are all set.
As part of the federal government’s response to the coronavirus, the Department of Agriculture has extended the free school meal program to ALL kids until the end of the year. You just need to fill out a form with your school district. This is not an eligibility thing, you kid already is qualified by being a student.
The story at centralmaine.com highlighted how some local schools are reaching out to parents to take advantage. They even have plans on handling this for the kids doing remote learning.
Hunger is a learning issue. If a kid is hungry they are just not going to be in a place to be the best learner.
Check-in with your school for the form and take care of that…your child is already qualified.
OK, you are able to provide and your kid does not need this, I challenge you to sign them up anyway. Then figure out what it would have cost you to feed them for those meals until the end of the year. Take that amount and make a donation to us for Camp Out Hunger….you can just give us that amount or you can take the funds and go shopping for nonperishable items for our food drive. This way we ALL WIN!
