It's been a year full of rescheduled and cancelled events alike. The latest in this year-long series of cancellations is the remaining holiday festivities in the city of Augusta. According to WABI TV 5, the city has been forced to cancel the remaining activities, including visits with Santa and the drive-in movies, because of a spike in COVID-19 cases. Some of those cases have involved sending three of the city's workers into quarantine.

In a quote from Leif Dahlin, Augusta's Community Services Director, ”We’re gonna recess any and all contact with people right now in terms of events. We’ve have to look out for Mr. and Mrs. Claus as well as the elves, as well as the rest of our community to ensure the holidays go well and that we’ve done nothing that would preclude the holidays from being as good as they could possibly be."

As frustrating as it can be, we can't be angry with our public officials for just trying to keep families safe. And remember kids, you don't always have to sit on Santa's lap for him to get your Christmas list. Believe it or not, Santa takes advantage of modern technology at the North Pole to make sure he can still communicate with you. If you're interested, with mom and dad's help, you can send Santa an email with your Christmas wish-list by clicking right here!
