Augusta Police are warning commuters, patrons, business owners, residents and visitors of on-going vehicle thefts in in the area.

According to a press release, the Augusta PD has responded to several locations for reports of stolen vehicles. In many of these incidents the vehicles have been left in the owner’s driveways, on private property. However. the vehicles have been left unlocked and keys were inside the vehicles.

These thefts have happened city wide, and have been in the inner urban neighborhoods as well as more rural neighborhoods.

Authorities are urging all to take extra precautions to properly lock vehicles and secure keys in a safe location.
