Covid Sparks Amazing Creativity in Mainers
It seems like ages ago that the Coronavirus Pandemic became a part of our lives. Lately, I have been nostalgic about the whole situation. I personally remember how terrified I was, watching all of the updates closely, praying that it wouldn't hit our state. But as we all know, it did. Their were terrible things that happened because of this but also awe-inspiring moments I will never forget.
Hindsight is greater and thinking back at that period of time when it all hit us, made me aware of something. Despite the sadness and fear, we as Mainers are so creative. Wow. You all just seriously blew me away with your talents during this difficult time.
At one point I remember going to a gas station in the early days of Covid and was wearing a mask for the first time. I felt uncomfortable and nervous, almost like I was in a movie.
As I walked into the gas station an older woman walked in a said, "Everyone stay away from me, I've been exposed!" The moment that happed I no longer cared about the soda I wanted and dropped it, ran out and went back in my car and drove him even though I really wanted that soda and I was parched. drove home and ran inside. I yelled up to my wife, Nelly, "Don't come near me, throw me a bag." I undressed, threw my clothes away and took an hour shower.
I then went to Lowes and purchased painters coveralls. They cover your entire body.
I went everywhere with my overalls, the gas station, the grocery store, even riding my bicycle and because of that, I made a video for you of a day in my life during the pandemic.
That is just one of the things I did to keep busy and creative during Covid.
A lot of other very gifted and talent-filled moments came from Mainers as well during that time. Because we were stuck at home, our innovation awakened and we all became super stars in our living rooms. Their was a group on Facebook called Quarantine Karaoke created by Joseph Meyers of Brewer and it hit Maine and went global!
The group inspired us all to grab our hairbrushes and cover hit songs in our jammies. We wrote songs, played instruments and danced. So many of us were able to experience recognition for our talents and so much love.
Despite the overwhelming troubles during Covid, so much talent was shown from Mainers. It's like we were forced to inspire and that's exactly what we did.
Keep creating Mainers!
