I have had the pleasure of being captivated by Julia Gagnon several times now. I witnessed her vocal talents at Central Maine Idol and later on American Idol.

Maine has proudly declared Julia as our state singer, and she is an all-around amazing human. Recently, we had the opportunity to interview Julia and her fiancé, Nate, at the 92 Moose studios.

The interview was filled with the inside scoop on her Idol experience, and the details of writing her new hit single, "Here in Maine."

Julia, a Cumberland resident, rose to fame on American Idol, making it to the Top 7 before being eliminated. Julia wasted no time after her Idol journey to make sure we continue to hear her voice. She set up her Maine tour and released her song. Watch below!

I welcomed Julia and Nate into the studio, and I was so curious to see if she had changed since her rise to stardom. I had interviewed her before she won Central Maine Idol in Hallowell, and was interested  to see what she was like now. Guess what? She's real humble, down to earth, and hasn't changed a bit. What a peach. A strong peach, at that.

It was so neat to get a behind-the-scenes look at her life-altering Idol experience. She was roommates with the now-winner, Abi Carter, and gave us a glimpse into what a typical live taping day was like. She also mentioned that Luke Bryan was her favorite judge, because he would take the time to sit with them and chat.

Julia gave us the inside scoop on writing her new song, "Here in Maine." I still can't get it out of my head. She played the original voice note of her creating the song while sitting with her fiancé in the stairwell of the famous Roosevelt Hotel.

Additionally, we spoke about the impact of her massive newfound fame and how it's not always positive. Julia, however, handles it with grace, and inspires others to love themselves despite online bullies.

There is an air about her that is pure and innocent, but she also shows an immense inner strength and fire in her belly to go far.

I would wager that Julia Gagnon will one day reach the legendary status of stars like Whitney, Beyoncé, and Adele.

Meeting her was an absolute pleasure, and I can't wait to see her on her tour of Maine. To check out the dates where Julia and Nate will share their talents, click here.
