When I heard that a local Maine actor was in a movie directed by the one and only George Clooney and starring alongside Ben Affleck, Christopher Lloyd, Tye Sheridan, and Lily Rabe I just about spat out my coffee. Actually, I did spit out my coffee and I still can't get the stain out of my favorite shirt.

I was today years old when I learned about how much truth George Clooney puts into his movie. The Tender Bar is a touching and realer then real film about family and the affect that absent parents have on you.

The tone is dramatic and purely truthful in revealing how a young boy, J.R. is shaped by the people he has chosen to look up to. Ben Affleck plays J.R's Uncle Charlie and he is the owner of a local town bar, he guides J.R. with lessons in life, love, and literature.

I knew that I had to get in touch with the Maine actor and learn about every single detail about his experience. So I did. I was able to interview Matt Delameter and learn that he lived in Western Maine and got into acting after college.

He was working in banking in Portland, Maine and then was bitten by the theatre bug. You can tell just by talking to him that his talent is deep and he has the capacity to "go there" with his skill.

In this movie he plays, Joey D, one of the close friends that hang out at Ben Affleck's bar. It's like their a bunch of fun uncles and hooligans', it's crew vibe with the guys, and they are the adults that J.R. grows up around. They all have a huge affect on his growth.

Funny enough, Matt auditioned for this movie in his sons room. He said that due to Covid, he had to send in a video of his audition and his sons room had great lighting. He then sent in his audition, got the call of a lifetime, where he was told that Clooney wanted him for the role.

He was proud, shocked, and overwhelmed at this amazing opportunity to be a part of this movie. His acting was superb and when I spoke to him, he was humbled and just a first-rate kind of guy. It's funny, when you meet a celebrity actor, you get nervous and sometimes expect for them to be a little vein, but Matt was humble, down to earth, and someone I would probably borrow sugar from.

I asked him about working with George Clooney and what kind of direction was given and he shared that Clooney couldn't of been nicer and was genuine.

Matt is a pure example that dreams come true later in life. As I said before, he didn't start acting until after college. No matter what age you are, you're ability to reach the goals you set out for yourself when you were young are not unattainable. You simply have to try.

Matt tried. Matt succeeded and now he is on an upward trajectory to stardom.
