Last Friday, I was lucky enough to be a part of an unforgettable event held at the Capitol Area Credit Union. This event was to raise money for Special Olympics.

Despite the fact that it was a very hot day, the incredible volunteers and workers were determined to help support this wonderful cause. We all need a little help now and then and what these people were able to do in just a few hours was remarkable. I am happy to have witnessed this day.

The BBQ was brought to you by RA Robinson and Landscaping. Rob was the cook and he was hilarious and nice but would not tell me his "secret recipe" for his delicious hot dogs. One day, I will get it out of him. The Red Barn was so generous and donated the hot dog and hamburger baskets and without Ryan Cote from WABK, we wouldn't of had any hot dogs to shove into our mouth holes!

PFG North Center was also very generous and donated all of the chips. In addition, we also had Jump and Raft Maine donate white water rafting tickets for you to win! That was my job, to sign all of you up!

The day was special and unforgettable because Rob said to me, that his dream was to either reach $1,000 or completely run out of food. This is all for Special Olympics and when he said this to me, he was passionate, he was supportive, and he meant every single word with love. You can tell when you are talking to someone who is straight determined to help a cause and Rob was 100% set on reaching this goal.

It was such a fun day. I brought the Moose Caboose and my son, Bentley had a lot of fun with Monty Moose! It was a family affair and we all did our part to help support Special Olympics and because of that, $1800 dollars was raised.

I was also so honored to meet the Vice President , Shauna Magee and the CEO, Diana Winkley of the Capitol Area Credit Union. These two woman are pillars and strong business minded women. It's always a pleasure to talk to people who have fought hard to get to where they are and then in turn, give back to such a special cause like Special Olympics.

Everyone that was involved including all of the community members that bought lunches and donated, were unforgettable. The moments I had with them, I will never forget and it reminds me to always give back when I can. To help others.

The final tally came in for the day and they not only met their goal but went above and beyond and raised $2005.00 to benefit Special Olympics!
