Maine Duo Breathes New Life into Historic Auburn Theatre
There is something to be said for the arts. Well, a lot is to be said about the arts. Community little theatre will be kicking off its 82nd season and this is due to a scientist and a veteran nurse who by day are helping to keep our community safe and healthy and by night trying to continue to light the fire within our art community.
According to a video posted on News Center Maines Youtube Channel, CLT has been shut down for about 20 months now due to the Covid 19 Crisis. The theatre had to close its doors temporarily due to safety restrictions but now, the doors are swinging wide open and busting at the seams streaming music and acting like no other!
An epidemiologist named, Tim Callan works tirelessly all week long on studying the effects of disease and much much more. He is also has been on the board of directors for CLT for quite some time and has decided to put the little bit of extra time he has into reviving the stage at CLT.
A veteran nurse, Celeste Philippon is also working with Tim to prepare the theatre to be reopened in January. They say the directors, actors, choreographers are all very amped and excited to get back to doing what they do best.
Art and theatre are extremely vital to have within every community. It is what makes us who we are, using our talents to spread inspiration, hope, and pure talent. We have so many talented people in Lewiston/Auburn and it's time to hit the spotlight again.
According to, Acting Studio,
"Theatre helps us to see a different perspective from our own. We're shown humanity, psychology, motivations, conflict, and resolution. We as the audience get to witness the trajectory of persons other than ourselves. ... Theatre promotes us to give power to truth, to take risks, and to advocate for new and diverse voices."
This couldn't be a truer statement. All it takes are two health care workers to revive our beloved theatre and help spread joy to all.
Make sure to check out CLTs newest show, on January 13th they will be premiering a show called, "Let it Be" which will be all about The Beatles using only music and no dialogue.
