So, I have been rigorously training for the Miles for Mills 5k, have you signed up yet?

I am currently in the process of getting my mind, body, and shins ready to run or walk, haven't decided yet, for the upcoming 5k.

If the old me saw me now, I'd probably punch myself in the face. I always judged runners because I couldn't understand how one could enjoy bringing pain to their body, for fun.

But now, after 3 years of jogging, running, and doing yoga, I have officially converted to a gym rat. I even take locker room selfies, and like it.

To train for this 5k I have been running and walking on the treadmill at my local gym and recently was introduced to the elliptical, which has changed my life.

I was hesitant at first to jump onto this machine because you have to move every part of your body but when I did, I felt alive. I challenged myself and afterwards my sweat created a new pond I would like to call, Lake Lizzy. It was a training session that I know will help me through this 5k. I am determined to help others that have fought for our country. That is what the Travis Mills Foundation is all about.

So get this. Why would I run just for 'funsies' when I can run to help people right? A co-worker of mine, Senior Marketing Consultant, Merry St. Pierre asked me to be a part of the Travis Mills, Miles for Mills 5k.

According to the website, the 5k run/walk will be presented by New Balance Foundation.

The 5k is located in Brunswick this year at Brunswick Landing on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

According to the event info, start time is 9:00am and end time is 11:00am. Price is $25.00 for the race fee plus $3.00. Registration Limit: 1,160 spots left. Registration ends May 29, 2022 at 8:00am EDT.

If you haven't heard about Miles for Mills, it's very exciting. This foundation supports recalibrated veteran families after servicing our country. According to their site,

We support these veteran families through our national retreat in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine.

The Travis Mills Foundation will be adding fundraising incentives to thank you for going above and beyond and helping impact recalibrated veteran families even more.

Keep an eye out for updates!!

Miles for Mills 5k event t-shirts from New Balance are limited in sizes and quantity and are only up for grabs through April 1, 2022. Event registration will be capped at 2,000 people - so register early!

Travis Mills and his foundation has been helping veterans and their families for so long and if you are someone who enjoys exercise or more importantly, just want to come out and walk the 5k, you can!

There are three different events to choose from, the 5k itself, the virtual 5k, or the fundraiser only and you can choose which fits you best here.

Make sure you sign up and come say hi to, I may be bent over hurling after, so before the run would be best!

If you want to come be a part of something bigger than yourself, sign up here!
