A few months ago, we told you about the “Community Fridge” in Skowhegan. A project to fight food insecurity held their ribbon cutting recently Saturday after starting in January.

The “Community Fridge” is located outside the Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce and has cold food items (you know, the stuff you would typically find in the refrigerator) and donated from area businesses and the community. Those in need can stop by the “Community Fridge” and take what they need.  According to WABI, there is also a “Blessings Box” next to the “Community Fridge.” It is a separate pantry next to the fridge that holds non-perishables. The “Community Fridge” has recently found a sponsor and is now picked up its nonprofit status.

This is such a great idea that has sprung up around the United States, and so happy to see this “Community Fridge” doing so well in Skowhegan.
