There are many crazy, fun Christmas traditions that families share together. Either something they've invented within their own tribe or something that has cultural or religious significance.

Let's go through a few holiday traditions and then I will explain to you, why my family isn't sentimental, we're just a little bit, I don't know, weird?

Something that's gotten popular is advent calendars! Who doesn't love flipping those little paper doors open to find a holiday treat?

According to USA Today, advent calendars began in the 1800s, German Protestants allegedly decorated their doors with chalk marks or lit candles to count each day leading up to Christmas.

Then there are traditions that are more, unique. Like Yule Goats. It's a legend of a man-sized goat led by St. Nicholas who had the power to control evil.

According to Goodnet, today, it's celebrated across Sweden, where people hang ornaments depicting the Yule Goat!

And now, the main event. Let's talk about undies ladies and gents.

Any color will do, but in my family, we get underwear. Oh! I almost forgot, we also get to open super soft and snuggly socks from Aunt Barbara and Uncle John in Pennsylvania.

It's something we've always done and are kind of proud of it.

When we were really little, it was super cute. But now, I have to be honest, it is a little awkward. I guess I've gotten used to it now, but I could see how Santa bringing me undergarments, is the super sketch.

I don't remember when the tradition started and I'm not sure if it was Santa Claus who originally sent me new underwear, but now I just assume it's my Mom because I really don't want to think that Santa personally manufactures different patterns and silly underwear that he sends to a 36-year-old grown woman.

It's still special and entertaining and the Snyders are certainly a funny bunch. You've got to be playful because sometimes holidays can be tough when you are missing someone or it's hard due to other circumstances so have fun with it. Give a silly gift and laugh, because laughter heals the soul.
